Research Staff, Gut Health
Dr Conor Akintola (BSc, PhD) is a postdoctoral researcher in the Immunomodulation Research Group at Dublin City University (DCU), working with Prof. Christine Loscher. In 2015, Conor graduated from DCU with a degree in Genetics and Cell Biology. Conor subsequently took up a role as a research assistant with Prof. Christine Loscher, where he stayed to begin his PhD in 2017. His research focused on understanding the molecular interactions between the immune system and skeletal muscle, and how this may be affected by novel cow’s milk derived functional food ingredients. Conor successfully defended his PhD research in October 2021. Conor is now working as a postdoctoral researcher where he will study the effects of a casein hydrolysate supplementation on key immune markers of gut health in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
