Jens Bleiel

Jens Bleiel became the Chief Executive Officer for Food for Health Ireland in August 2009. Jens is a business economist by training. His past assigments have brought him from Germany (his home country) to the Netherlands and Argentina. After five years at a management consultancy in Germany, he joined Dutch company Numico where he held several management and executive functions in the baby food branch of the company (Cow&Gate, amongst other brands). After 10 years in this business with the nicest customers of the world – babies – Jens Bleiel joined Dutch multinational DSM, world market leader in vitamins and other food ingredients, where he built up the functional food business.

Gillian Davis
Finance & Admin Manager

Gillian completed her BSc in Biochemistry at UCD and went on to be awarded an MSc Project Management Practice from Smurfit School of Business. She began her career with Baxter Healthcare as a Validation Specialist and worked with them for a number of years. She returned to UCD in 2007, where she has worked on many different research-funded projects in the College of Engineering. Gillian's area of expertise is research finance and she has gained exposure to many different funding bodies such as SFI, Marie Curie, ESF and Interreg. In 2013 Gillian joined FHI and is currently the Financial and Administrative Manager.

Dr Fiona Lalor
Regulatory Affairs & Communications Manager

Dr Fiona Lalor is the Regulatory Affairs & Communications Manager for FHI. Having completed an MSc in Human Nutrition from the University of Aberdeen, she began her career at the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. She then moved to Food and Drink Industry Ireland in IBEC where she was the Regulatory Affairs Manager. In this position, Fiona represented the food industry to government agencies, particularly in terms of food safety, food labelling and food additive legislation. Fiona then took up a research position in University College Dublin and in 2010 completed her PhD in Food Regulatory Affairs under the supervision of Prof Patrick Wall (Professor of Public Health, UCD).

Sinead Proos
Senior Innovation and Commercialisation Manager

Sinead Proos is the Senior Innovation and Commercialisation Development Manager for FHI. In FHI Phase 1, Sinead led the Early Infant Development Programme. She joined FHI from DANONE Baby Nutrition where she held the position of Global Nutrition Marketing Manager. She has also held positions in product research and consumer marketing at Numico, SKIM Group (Netherlands) and Procter & Gamble in the UK.  She holds a BSc. in Nutritional Science and a Higher Diploma in Management & Marketing.

Dr Jessica Ralston

Jessica joined the Food for Health Ireland Glycaemic Management team as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in 2015. She holds a BSc in Human Kinetics and received her PhD in Human Health and Nutritional Science from the University of Guelph in Canada. Her current research with FHI examines the ability of novel dairy bioactives to regulate inflammation and glucose metabolism in adipose tissue.
